An easy weekend away from PMB
Eagle View is about 45 minutes from Pietermaritzburg, near Harburg in the KZN Midlands. It’s close enough for a weekend away, and far enough out that at night you can hear the river.
We’re a small campsite on our family’s working farm, not a resort. There’s no reception and no staff on duty. You book by email, pay by EFT and let yourself in with a gate code.
What you’ll find
- Open ground, your choice of spot. No numbered stands; pick any free spot when you arrive. We limit bookings each weekend so there’s always room.
- Tents, caravans and rooftop tents are all welcome.
- Gas-heated hot showers, three for ladies and three for men.
- Electricity included, from shared plug points. Bring an extension cord and a caravan adaptor if you need one.
- A lapa with a fireplace, open to everyone.
- Two footpaths to the waterfall, one easy, one steeper and more scenic.
- Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Getting here
From Pietermaritzburg, you head out on the R33 towards Greytown and then onto the R614 through Wartburg. Google Maps works for most of the way; follow our campsite signs for the final gravel stretch. Before you come
There’s no shop, no firewood and nothing to rent on site, so bring everything you need. Wartburg is 15 minutes away for fuel and groceries. It’s a quiet campsite, so only booked guests come through the gate, with no day visitors and no loud music at night.
